Tim Adams is the founder of Oxbow Brewing Company, a Maine-based brewery that specializes in farmhouse ales and lagers. Since its founding in 2011, Oxbow has garnered international attention for their wide range of beers that are produced using a variety of techniques including barrel and stainless aging, as well as traditional spontaneous fermentation. Fruited beers are of particular note in the brewery’s portfolio, with many of the offerings more closely resembling wine than beer.
Oxbow’s unique offerings can be found throughout the northeast USA and are also distributed periodically to other parts of the country as well as exported to select markets. Oxbow is available in Colorado through a distribution partnership with Crooked Stave Artisans.
Adams grew up in Maine where he currently resides with his wife and business partner, Birch Adams. He attended Colorado College, graduating in 2005 and promptly moving to his favorite mountain town, Crested Butte. After brief stints at the Secret Stash and the Forest Queen, Adams joined the opening crew of Lobar, where he bartended until moving back to Maine in the summer of 2007.
Oxbow has three locations in Maine, including a Nordic ski center in Maine’s inland lakes region as well as a live music venue in downtown Portland. Tim is a YETI ambassador and is as passionate about skiing and fly fishing as he is about beer.
